The district heating supplier Follo Fjernvarme has just started documenting its network and nodes in Smallworld, based on the recent successful installation, configuration and training.

- We needed to collect and digitalise our network data into one application and database in order to perform with the efficiency and quality that is expected from us, Thor Henrik Westlye, Managing Director at Follo Fjernvarme, explains.

- Our key resources were familiar with the Smallworld application from their previous engagement at other district heating suppliers and wanted to utilise this competence and functionality when documenting our infrastructure also.

Biological heating central at Follo Fjernvarme

Follo Fjernvarme supplies private homes, businesses and public premises in the municipality of Ski, just outside Oslo, with hot water based district heating originating from heat centrals burning biological mass. The company is part of the Olav Thon Group, which is one of the largest owners of hotels and shopping centres in Norway.

- We installed the latest version of the Smallworld District Heating application at our partner Netsolution’s IT-platform, as a hosted solution, which means that Follo Fjernvarme can avoid the cost of owning and maintaining Windows servers, Truls Becken, Senior Consultant at Smallworld Nordic, points out. - Furthermore, the solution is configured according to the users’ needs and we have trained their key resources getting them started in Smallworld.
